From: wasser_1%viking.DEC@decwrl.ARPA (John A. Wasser) Modula Corp. Strikes Again! In early August there was a product announcement for Macintosh Modula-2 from Modula Corporation in Byte magazine. The announcement said that shipments would begin in the last week of August. I sent them a check for $90 (the price mentioned in their announcement and subsequent ads) about mid-August (they cashed my check on August 28th) and waited. And waited.... and waited. Toward the end of September I called to ask where my compiler was. They said that they still had a few bugs and weren't shipping yet. I called them again in November to ask where my compiler was. They said "any day now" and "almost definitely by the end of the year". Yesterday I got a letter from Modula Corporation. Do you think it was an apology for cashing my check and not shipping for four months? Do you think it was a refund for lost interest over those four months? NO! It was a BILL for $10 of "postage and handling"! The terms are NET 10 DAYS! The postage and handling charge was NEVER MENTIONED in the announcement or subsequent ads. They must have a cash-flow problem so they figured they'd get another ten dollars out of the people whose money they have been using free for four months. John A.
