From: Travis Lee Winfrey <Us.Travis%CU20B@COLUMBIA.ARPA> Vertical Regions. That is, I could set one or two boundary columns by hitting a key (cursor position, not mouse position would be used to set the column), so that I would be marking a vertical part of the screen. Then I could change aspects of the text just for that vertical slice. Changing point size after this command could possibly lead to problems (or at least a lengthy wait while it changed every line appropriately, and refilled), but generally it would be just an ordinary region. The advantage of this would be seen with text that uses fonts for different languages: this method could be used to create dictionaries, word lists, or just guides to the keyboard if the keyboard mapping is really wild (Moscow, Princeton Math). It's possible to create these files now, but a lot of font-switching is necessary. Another possibility would be to have a key that switches one back to the last font used -- <click> New York font to Moscow font, <click> Moscow font to New York. Travis -------
