From: babcock@NWC-387A MacWrite info Joe Shelton, MacWrite product manager, in Jan MacTec says that version 3.6 is in beta test. If all goes well it will be released Dec 20 which would put it in dealers hands Jan 20. It will be distributed by dealers free of charge to current MacWrite owners. Versions other than 3.6 and the current 2.2 are full of bugs that may damage files, so don't use them. Version 3.6 will be packaged with MacPaint in new Mac systems. Microsoft Word info Same issue of MacTec has the following two sentence review of Microsoft Word from Comdex by one Mac Scotty "One thing that was very nice to see was a "almost" release version of Microsoft Word. It was fast, and I mean fast!" MacTech info This issue (Jan) also has other good stuff such as: 1. A letter with an Aztex C Icon Converter. 2. An application template in Consulair C with considerable discussion of Mac memory management. 3. Discussion of Quickdraw with Pascal illustrations. 4. Perpetual calendar in Microsoft Basic 2.0. 5. Assembly language discussion of Icons as Resources. 6. A Forth Decompiler. They say they will pay for articles. MacTech $24/year P.O. Box 846 Placentia, CA 92670
