[fa.info-mac] Information Request---Haba Systems' HabaDisk

The November MacWorld's Haba Systems advertisment includes a "HabaDisk for
Macintosh" listing at $449.95 (with a copy of Habadex and "QuickFinder"
thrown in). This is a 3.5 inch external drive. Does anyone have any
experience with this or comparison with the Apple external drive?

I saw a quick demo of the HabaDisk a couple of months ago. If I recall
correctly, the factory rep said the drive was made by Shugart or Tandon--I
don't remember which. The drive is supposed to be 100% compatible with
Apple's, and is apparently guaranteed to be update-able to double-sided (at
some unspecified price and date). It's somewhat smaller than the Apple
drive, and is also a bit noisier. It's in a metal case, painted standard
MacBeige. Haba's pricing is designed to undercut Apple's, after typical
dealer discounting. Some software (a miniFinder desk accessory and maybe
Habadex) is supposed to come with the drive. This is about all I can
recall that might be of interest...
