From: <bang!crash!bwebster@Nosc> Got a call this morning from Gary Landis at MicroGraphic Images. It seems his firm is developing a hardware product that needs to use a chunk of the 68000's address space for external decoding. The problem is that (according to him--I know nothing about this) the Mac OS and ROM appears to make some use of just about every 1MB chunk of the address space. His question: where can he find a chunk (1MB or so) of address space that won't cause problems with the Mac OS/ROM? If you know, please reply to me or give him a call directly (213-374-5832). I know he'll appreciate it. Speaking of which...he told me that his firm has just annouced a 1 MB upgrade for the Mac (called the "MegaMac"). You do have the problem of having the video screen sitting right in the middle of RAM (at $7A700), but (he said) you can have a 512K RAMdisk *and* 512K of working space . . . which should make Lotus' Ja\zz and similar software scream along. He's sending me info on it; I'll post something here once I get it. ..bruce.. bang!crash!bwebster@nosc {ihnp4 | sdcsvax!bang}!crash!bwebster
