[net.music] Looking for Van Dyke Parks records

< yum >

I would like to obtain copies of recrods made by an artist
named Van Dyke Parks. I have a copy of Song Cycle, and a
copy of the soundtrack to Popeye, which he was involved in.

I believe his other albums are The Clang of the Yankee Reaper
and Discover America. I have been searching the used record
stores in this part of North Carolina for some time without
finding a good pressing of either.

If anyone knows where I might be able to obtain copies of
these records, or perhaps has them in his/her personal collection
and wouldn't mind parting with them, please let me know.

Isn't Van Dyke Parks the guy who worked with Brian Wilson of the
Beach Boys on the wonderful (but wierd) Smiley Smile...(well known in
some circles as the album the beach boys made on acid...listen to
"vegetables" and this becomes totally believable). In case, Van Dyke
Parks, if I am correct, co-wrote "Heroes and Villians". After this album
came Wilson's nervous breakdown, the two year period when he wouldn't leave
the house, the Shrink and the all-too-common beginning of the end.
