I am in a cloistered, womb-like university setting where we don't have the profit motive to worry about ... Yes, the real world really is like the ads. Or at least the ads describe some of the qualities that are usually necessary to get high-powered jobs in the high-tech arena. When profit and competition mix, stress becomes the order of the day.
