Greetings All! I bring tidings of the Outlands Coronet Lists, held this weekend past. Please forgive me the blatant mis-spellings and misnomers, as I forgot to take a notepad. The challenge matches wwere held Saturday morning and early afternoon, after a breif opening court. Barons Sir Nicholas de Caine and Sir Theodric ap Breaken Beaken "cleaned many clocks", although they did not compete in the subsequent lists. The opening round of the lists pitted mostly belted fighters agains unbelted ones, and there were no split matches. (2:1) The next round, Sunday morning, was bittersweet. Many old friends wound up matched together. Sir Carmak vs. Sir Micha Longbow (Carmak: "He taught me everything I know about fast") and Sir Aelfgar Redbeard vs. Master Odan. In the third round, those remaining were Sir Aelfgar, Sir (Duke) Einrich Armpitsbane, Sir Micha Longbow, Sir Eldar Fredrickson, and Lord Michael (somebody), a squire. Sir Eldar beat Sir Aelfgar, Lord Michael beat Sir Micha, and Einrich drew the destructive bye, and beat Lord Thomas the Mute. Einrich withdrew, leaving Sir Eldar and Lord Michael to slug it out. The match between the two florentine-style fighters was intense. In the longest match of the lists, Sir Eldar beat Lord Michael 2-0. Prince Montagaar praised them both, and called for a healer for Lord Michael, who damaged his wrist during combat. Sir Eldar was pronounced Tannist at closing court, and Lord Michael was awarded the shield of chivalry by Princess Irminsle (sp??). (For newcomers, the Tannist/Tannista are the incipient Prince/Princess. They will be coroneted at a later date.) Of note: Baron Sir Theodric ap Breaken Beaken was awarded the order of the "Sly Old Bird", SOB. This is an award given a knight when his squire is elevated to the peerage. The presentation was quite humorous. Master Odan was the former squire. A good time was had by all, and many were introduced to "lungfish" songs. Although protected by official decree, the drummers behaved themselves. This was massively appreciated. [also note: this is the kind of thing I would like to see if/when we ever get a net.sca. Could someone out there please condescend to tell me how this is done? I've been asking for some time.] In service to the society, Karl of Godelbach Stonehaven, Outlands, Atenvelt Fort Collins, Colorado (CSU) csu-cs!morganr
