Does anyone know what the 4 or 5 audio signals just prior to ESPN going to an advertisement means ??? I've noticed that this doesn't happen all the time, but probably every 3rd or 4th programming break. Maybe something to do with the satellite hook-up ?? Bob Esposito...sb6!bpa!espo

Much of the audio for television networks is sent through the phone system. Notice that it sounds sort of like a touch-tone. I believe that it's probably some kind of "escape sequence" or somesuch; maybe it's a wake up for the local franchises (who get the network for users) to say that this is a station-break: i.e., commercial time set aside that is the right of the local group to solicit. --Randy rh@mit-eddie
