While we seem to be on the subject of *our* national anthem [Isn't it amazing how easy it is to get parochial and possessive at the same time? Only part of this net is in the USA], I've always liked the Canadian anthem, both in French and English. It has often struck me as so incongruous that such a lovely and inspiring melody is sung at ice hockey games which I personally find neither lovely nor inspiring. [I don't think anyone does.] It's also easy to sing, unlike the Scar- Mangled Banana. And it doesn't focus on and glorify war, either. The trouble is, I don't know the French lyrics. I'm hoping that someone on the net can give me ALL the lyrics, both in French and English. Are both versions "official" or just in Quebec? If there are others interested in this too, I will post the lyrics to this group. Good luck if you try to send me the French version--you'll have to make do with ASCII.
