The study mentioned above had one additional important ascpect to
it. Before the study was begun, the astrologers and the researchers
sat down together and decided on mutally agreed criteria for success
and failure. I feel that this is important. The astrologers claimed
to be able to accomplish task A. They agreed that if a set of events
(1) came about, then they had accomplished A. They also agreed that
if events (2) came about, that they had failed to accomplish A.
Events (2) came about. I feel that this is equivalent to their
admitting that could not accomplish A, namely predict a persons
personality from the configuration of the stars at the time of
birth.

Gen.: And do you mean to say that you would deliberately rob me of
these, the sole remaining props of my old age, and leave me to go
through the remainder of life unfriended, unprotected, and alone?
Pirate: Well, yes; that's the idea.
