In the 2/87 issue of Mini-Micro Systems there is an ad from a company called Exabyte announcing their new 8mm cartridge tape subsystems the EXB-8200. The remarkable part is the quoted storage capacity, "over 2,000 Mb". It comes in a 5.25" full height box with an embedded SCSI controller. The cartridges look slightly larger than a cassette tape. $3500 Q1. Does anyone know any more about these things? Is this a spinoff on the 8mm video technology (helical scan?)? At 15-20 times the capacity of current cartridge (or 9 track for that matter) on a much more conveniently sized tape, this sounds too good to be true. Exabyte's phone number is (303)442-4333. Sorry if this sounds like an advertisement but I thought people would like to here about it. I'm in no way affiliated with Exabyte. -- Jim Prescott rochester!moscom!jgp
