[net.math.stat] S package on 4.2 ?

mckeon@unm-cvax.UUCP (06/25/84)

Hello:

We run 4.2 bsd. We'd like to run 'S', if possible.

Is this possible ? Is anyone doing it ? Have you had problems ?

Did it take long to port the software ?
Did it take long to fix the licenses & make the lawyers happy ?

If you've had problems, were they with S, or S & 4.2 ?
Could you fix them ? with or without major trauma ?

Was S been worth it ?

( n.b. we run SAS & SPSS-X on IBM mainframe,
    various DEC packages on VAX-VMS.
comparisions, contrasts, etc. would be welcome.)

As usual, will summarize if enough interest.
Hope this isn't a repeat of recent activity -
if so please send summary.

p.s. Sorry about multiple newsgroups - checked Adam's list,
but wasn't clear if usoft.s was active, defunct, or whatever.
