As I heard it, the prayer in question began Our Father, who art in heaven, Harold be Thy name ... This came, I believe from the same reference which gave the last verse of the 23rd psalm as Surely good Mrs. Murphy will follow me all the days of my life ... (one gets a mental picture here of this motherly Irish matron dogging the kid's footsteps.) These gems were really taken from a book on "out of the mouths of babes;" children's interpretations of what they heard around them. It may have been written by Art Linkletter.

Thanks to my mother, a very silly person, I got in trouble in grade 1. (well, I got in trouble in grade 1 a lot, but this one was directly attributable to my mother). She always sang "While shepherds washed their socks at night" instead of "While shepherds watched their flocks at night". I complained to the teacher that she was singing the words wrong that December... Laura Creighton utcsstat!laura

The well known prayer for travelers states: ... and lead us not into Penn Station.
