All My Children Tuesday May 29

Palmer breaks the news to Phoebe that the planning commission met early
in the morning and voted to approve the variance on the zoning that Adam
wanted. Phoebe begins rallying support for the special referendum. She assigns
various parts of the city to Palmer, Langley, Hillary and herself. She takes
the Glamorama. Hillary gets the part of Pine Valley that the Martins live in.
Langley just stays home, unbeknownst to Phoebe.

Erica opens her mail to discover a copy of Mike's manuscript "To Lhasa and
Back." Inside she finds a note from Mike. When Adam enters, she quickly
conceals the note. Adam tells her he wants to return the manuscript to
prove to Mike that she isn't interested in him. Erica agrees. Later,
Erica stops by the Glamorama where Phoebe is refusing business to anyone
who refuses to sign the petition (which is exactly what Edna did). Phoebe
compares Erica to Eva Braun and Hitler and tells Erica she is barred from
the Glamorama. Erica returns home upset, but tells Adam she is determined
to be his wife in every way.

Hillary stops by the Martins and gets Ruth to sign the petition. She
asks to see Tad, but when Ruth goes in to get him, he is playing "hard
to get" and refuses to come out. Hillary is hurt and leaves very depressed.
Ruth tells Tad that manipulation is not the way to start a relationship, but
Tad is determined to win Hillary his way.

Cliff agrees to check on a former patient of his, Scottie Riley, after his
mother asks him to. Cliff explains to Scottie that he will be his doctor
again after his suspension is up, but in the meantime, he will have to do
what Dr. Voight says. Then, Scottie tells Cliff that he is scheduled for
surgery tomorrow. Cliff is outraged as he doesn't think surgery is the
right approach. He tries to talk to Dr. Voight about this, but Voight
becomes very defensive and starts shouting at Cliff. Joe Martin breaks
it up and tells Cliff that he has to stay out of the situation. After
Dr. Voight leaves, Joe agrees to review the case to see if surgery is
really necessary. Cliff tells Joe he can no longer work at the lab.
Later, Cliff tells Nina that he is going to work at the Goal Post.
