#R:uok:23400001:uiucuxc:40900004:000:1126 uiucuxc!dsmith Jul 10 08:09:00 1984 Sure! I've followed it for years. I don't keep up with it like I used to though. I did just happen to catch the last half hour yesterday. Gunnar wants a divorce from Barbara - she's not pleased. He claims there's another woman, but I don't believe him for some reason. (I think its far more complicated than that. Isn't it always?). Maggie is raising some infant and wants custody of it. Barbara said, "They just have to give you custody. Nobody could love her more than you!" Right Barb. Diana wants to annul her marriage to Frank. She's wants him to be able to be with Maggie immediately. Frank, however, wants to stick around until the baby is born. Diana said there's no need because she's going to tell the world that its Steve's baby ("Nineteen or twenty mistakes, and right away they call you a tramp!"). I don't know whether Steve knows about all this though. I heard that everyone thinks Betsy is dead, but she's really lying in a coma somewhere - with amnesia, I'm sure. That's about all I know. Did John and Karen break up? What's dear Kim doing these days? What's really going on with Gunnar?

#R:uok:23400001:uok:23400002:000:1126 uok!dwhitney Jul 12 11:45:00 1984 Yes, John and Karen broke up and are in the midst of an UGLY divorce... As you may or may not know, Jay Connors and Frannie Hughes just started together and were scheduled to have an evening, (uh, well, "together"). Just as she arrives at Jays apartment, she catches Jay with Karen.... (hooboy.) Kim is trying to convince herself she is ambivalent to Raymond Speer (who is a fink, anyway) Speer (Donald May) knows all about Steve's search for his father, Michael Christopher, and for some as yet unknown reason is doing all he can to stop the searching. Brian McColl is in love with Steve's newly-discovered half-sister Juliette, (but Steve doesn't KNOW she is his half-sister, Speer doesn't WANT him to find out..) Gunnar, Lisa McColl, Dr. Zachary Stone, Jeff Ward, Annie Hughes, Ariel Aldrin, have all recently been written out of the show. Rumor has it that more removals are still in line. (WHO's left??) Oh, well..... ctvax!uokvax!uok!dwhitney (P.S. Any ATWT fans out there which would like to send mail, please send FULL mail with letter...mail system here does not support complete paths yet..)

#R:uok:23400001:uiucuxc:40900005:000:432 uiucuxc!dsmith Jul 16 11:09:00 1984 My God! Such a turnover! Why are they ditching all these characters? I did hear a while back tht ATWT was attempting to appeal to a younger audience; but, I hope that they're not going to turn it into a teenagers' show. I am sorry to hear about Ariel - she had real character. I never could accept Betsy von Furstenberg as Lisa. Is it true that Eileen Fulton had it in her contract that Lisa would never become a grandmother?

Well good news. Eileen Fulton is returning as Lisa sometime in late August/ early September. Diane Wilkerson ..!hopd3!dvw

#R:uok:23400001:uok:23400003:000:884 uok!dwhitney Jul 19 16:02:00 1984 Don't know about Eileen Fulton's contract, just that she wanted to pursue a singing career (that's rumor, subject to verifcationa and/or refutation) The new Betsy actress will have a ways to go to match the simple charm that Meg Ryan had in the part. I wish the show would just get moving, the last few weeks they've seemingly drug on and on, not really doing anything... Agreed about the "teenagers" show. Being 20, (less a month) the show which is supposed to appeal to me (I guess, the one with Jay and Frannie, et al) just doesn't appeal to me at all...Maybe I'm hard to please.. David Whitney ctvax!uokvax!uok!dwhitney P.S. Anyone remember Donald May as Adam Drake from "The Edge of Night" years and years ago--and, more recently, Michael Pinter as Brian McColl who was Mark on "Guiding Light." (I think his first name was Mark, not Michael. Sorry.) /ex
