An addition to this: Sam was pregnant, albeit not very far along, and so there is a chance that the baby can be saved. Delilah has volunteered to carry the child to term (remember, she cannot have children of her own) and then present the child to Rafe when it is born. (Fat chance!) Once they take the baby out, they will shut off Sam's respirator and she will die. Now, wouldn't it be really nifty if after they take the baby out, they turn off the respirator and by some miracle she doesn't die? And then, miracle of miracles, she can come back to life and be really upset because there's Delilah walking around carrying HER baby, and won't that be fun? Of course, there's little chance of that happening, what with total brain death and all. But if it happens, remember where you heard it first!
