---------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday, October 26 Melissa and Pete tell Marie Horton that they are just going for a ride in Pete's new sports car. Melissa tells Marie that the suitcase just has some costume changes in it and she needs them for her dance practice. Marie tells them not to stay out too late and she leaves. Eugene and Bo are trying to obtain information about the name Chervot from Eugene's computer. Bo calls Hope on the walkie-talkie wrist watch. Will has the watch in his pocket and he gives it to Hope and tells her to talk to Bo and get rid of him fast. She does and Bo tells Eugene that Hope is acting strange and that something seems wrong. Roman and Marlena bring the twins home from the hospital. Alice and Tom Horton are there to help them settle the babies in. Alice sees a book called "Spy Behind the Iron Curtain" on Roman and Marlena's table and she picks up the book and mutters the name Chervot. She tells Tom she will be back in a little while. She tells him to make an excuse for her to Roman and Marlena and she rushes out the door. Meagan calls Stephano and tells him she sold her half of Anderson Manufacturing. She tells him she will meet with him later. Alice goes over to Eugene's house and she tells him and Bo that she remembers the name Chervot. She tells them that in 1950 it was plastered all over the newspapers about a spy who was caught in the United States, and his name was Chervot. He was from Czechoslovakia. He was tried and convicted in this country. Eugene and Bo feed that information into Eugene's computer and it comes back with all the information about Chervot. It says that Viktor Chervot was indeed tried and convicted in this country, but he was later traded back to Czechoslovakia for an American spy in 1951. His wife died in 1954 and his son was placed with adoptive parents named Welch. Chervot was then banished from Czechoslovakia to a work camp in Siberia. Gwen goes over to Eugene's house while Bo and Alice are still there and she gives Eugene the notes she copied from one of Maxwell's "Top Priority" files. The notes say that if the prisms are not found by January, Viktor will be taken from his country and brought in to help. It also says that the sacrifice of Larry and Hope Welch will be a small price to pay for "my" life. (This was taken from a memo sent to Maxwell from Stephano, but these characters don't know that it was sent from Stephano, so they haven't figured out who the "my" is yet) Gwen goes back to Eugene's because she forgot her purse. Eugene, Bo, and Alice are in the kitchen and Gwen sees the information about Larry Welch's real father, Viktor Chervot, on Eugene's terminal screen. She gets her purse and slips out quietly. Pete and Melissa are on their way out of Salem. Pete is driving too fast and he loses control of the car going around a sharp bend. They go off the road and hit a tree. They are found by the police and they are both alright, but Melissa is cut up on the forehead and arm and they are both shaken up quite a bit. The police run a check on the car and plates and find out that the plates were taken off an old truck and the car is stolen. The police take Pete and Melissa to the police station. Roman gets a special delivery letter from Trinidad. He gets a shocked look on his face when he opens the large manila envelope and sees the picture of a Phoenix. Larry has lots and lots of flowers delivered to Gwen's townhouse while she is out. She sees them all when she comes home from Eugene's house. She opens the cards and sees that the flowers are from Larry. He also says that he loves her and misses her and he has a key attached to one of the red roses that is to a secluded cottage outside of Washington, where Larry is away politiking. (sp?) He asks her to come and see him there, but she throws the rose and key across the room. She is very upset because she knows as long as Larry is under Maxwell's thumb. they will never have a future together. She calls a TV station and tells them that she has a story that will blow Salem right out of the water. Bo goes over to Meagan's apartment and watches Zachary. Meagan tells Bo that she has a late business meeting, but she is really going to meet Stephano. Bo tries to call Hope again on the watch and she gets rid of him fast again, as Will is standing right behind her. Bo is concerned at this point. Meagan goes to see Stephano on his yacht, where he is staying. He has a large black leather bound book called The Triad Experiment. He pats the book and says that everything must go according to plan. Stephano then proceeds to explain to Meagan the power of the prisms. It seems that all of the accumulated knowledge of all of the top scientists, doctors, artists, etc. is coded in the three prisms. All three of the prisms must be together because all of the valuable information is divided into thirds, one third for each prism. But the information is all coded and therefore useless to anyone but Stephano, who knows that the three prisms must be placed in a certain configuration and then a laser beam shot through them to de-code the information. Stephano tells Meagan that the one surgical procedure available to remove his brain tumor is in the information in the prisms. He tells her without the procedure, he is a dead man. Apparently he already went through one operation for the tumor, but it was not altogether successful and the information coded in the prisms is his last hope. Stephano also tells Meagan that the man who devised the technology of the three prisms is Viktor Chervot, Larry Welch's real father. He is useless to them though, because he is incarcerated in a Siberian work camp and Stephano has tried many times to get him out, but the attempts have been unsuccessful. Stephano tells Meagan they must get the prisms soon because he does not know how much time he has left. He says that the Phoenix must rise again and Meagan tells her father that she will get the prisms for him. Stephano tells Meagan that he has sent a clue to Roman that will make Roman be on the same airplane to Haiti as Tony DiMera, Anna DiMera, Alex Marshall, Eugene Bradford, Colliope Jones, Carlo Firenza, and Liz Curtis. The models and photographers and all of the other people associated with the fashion shoot in Haiti will be on another airplane. Apparently Stephano has a plan to get rid of all of the people on the airplane to Haiti at one time, possibly by tampering with the airplane and having it crash. A while back Eugene kept getting visions of an airplane crash and he was warning all of his friends to stay off airplanes for a while. Nothing ever came of it, so this might be it! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marie Carey ...seismo!carey
