I've only started watching GH on a regular basis recently. I'm
confused by how the Quartermaines (sp?) are related. I know Alan
is Edward's son but how are Jimmy Lee and Celia related to the
others? And what exactly is on the Bible page that makes Edward
willing to pay off J.L.?

Alan is Edward's son by Lila.
Jimmy Lee is Edward's son by Beatrice.
Celia is Quentin (?) Quartermaine's daughter. He is Alan's cousin, I believe.

Jimmy Lee (that's not his real name, but I forget what that is) came to Port Charles a while back to get even, but ended up working with Edward. Still, the relationship has been rocky, and I guess you know the recent developments. Now, I'm not absolutely certain about the Bible page, but I think this is how it goes. Edward's wife was married before she married Edward, and the Bible page is the proof of that marriage. Supposedly, Mr. and Mrs. Q. were only married a few years ago (they kept it secret from Mrs., claiming it was a sentimental remarriage). So that makes Alan illegitimate, and not the legal heir to the Quartermaine fortune. And this is where Celia comes in. Celia is Edward's niece. And because Alan is not the legal heir, Celia is. That is why everyone was so desperate to keep the page a secret from Celia and the general public. It would have meant the entire fortune going to Celia and away from Alan and Alan Jr. Jimmy Lee is in love with Celia (or has been, at least), and the Quartermaines thought she might have been in on the blackmail plot Jimmy Lee pulled. Hope this answers your questions. Also hope I was right about the Bible page. If I wasn't, I'd appreciate the correction. I'd like to know too. By the way, the Bible page is no more; Edward burned it.

Tracy is not supposed to be dead. She married a politician and moved to Albany. Edward's inheritence of the Quartermaine fortune was based on whether he or his brother had the first child. The brother who had the first child received the bulk of the inheritence. Lila was married to Crane Toliver and didn't legally divorce him before she married Edward. Therefore, Tracy and Alan are ilegitimate children and Edward would lose the inheritence. The Bible page proves this. By the way Allen, now that you're wathcing General Hospital, does that mean you will start posting updates for it as well as Ryan's Hope and All My Children? Sure hope so. I've been watching GH and One Life to Live since 1970. Kathy
