[net.misc] What is the meaning of BTW

dje@5941ux.UUCP (07/20/83)

BTW means "By the way."

wex@ittvax.UUCP (Alan Wexelblat) (07/20/83)

Since no one else has answered I'll toss in my two cents:
When I use BTW, it means "by the way," and is in a category with
WRT = "with respect to", in that it is a quick way of writing a common long
phrase.

Since there will be a rash of articles on this one, and
probably a net-wide discussion of TLA's, I want to submit
now and be one of the first on the bandwagon.

BTW - By the Way.

I wanted to get this in ASAP.

Additionally, BNW refers to Base Note Writer.

"BTW" means "By The Way", I surmise.--bruce W.

Yes, Bruce is correct, BTW is "by the way". Similarly, OBTW is ...
"Oh, ... by the way".

P.S. This, of course, is not to be confused with "IHTFP"!

B.T.W. stands for Spelling Is Correct (-: sic :-) ...

By the way, if you use vi to edit your articles, you can have it
automatically expand that ugly abbreviation at very little cost. And
neaten your articles up in other ways, too. Nuff said?

bernie@watarts.UUCP (07/26/83)

Also not to be confused with OTB or MTBF.
