[] The Glamorama is in severe financial trouble since Mr. Jymm took most of the customers with him when he left. Edna shows up and warns Donna that Benny might start gambling again, since he has money problems of his own. Charlie doesn't want to go back home, since his stepfather has gotten a 2-year job in Japan. Ellen brings Julie to meet Martins at their house, and Benny & Charlie at Benny's. Greg tells Robin she will have to cut her hours to part-time; he's trying to force her to go back to high school. Accusing him of trying to run her life, Robin quits. Later, she fantasizes about Greg. Detective Young comes by to recruit Jesse for the police force. Jesse tells him to forget it and get lost, while Chris & Rudy hold guns on Angie & Pat in the other room. Donna hires confident new hairdresser, Mr. Carlo (Carlyle). He is in about his mid-50's, good dresser, "is good with the old ladies, *and* he brought spiked hair to Kings Cross!" Not an overplayed character like Mr. Jymm. Robin arrives at Benny's, of course *ripping* Charlie's attention away from Julie. She is quite nice and friendly to Julie. Jeremy picks up his boat. Erica, on the way to meet him, is intercepted by an armed Adam. Enid took it upon herself to speak to the dean of the law school; she has Greg's whole life planned out for him: law school and then into politics. Says this "photography nonsense" not suitable for life work, says Greg ought to try to "be a real man, like your father." Says he should go into corporate law, since criminal law puts him in contact with the "wrong element." Greg pretty much ignores her. Donna mistakenly thinks Benny gambling again, finds out she is wrong, Benny is hurt. Erica throws sand in Adam's face as he aims at Jeremy. Jeremy disarms Adam, grabs Erica, they make it to boat and go. Adam recovers gun, pops a few ineffectual shots at boat. Charlie still as hung up on Robin as ever. Chris keeps Rudy from raping Angie, telling him that as soon as they get drugs and split them, Rudy can do whatever he wants with Pat & Angie. (It is utterly ridiculous the way they keep letting Angie out of the house and she never tells the cops what's going on.) Charlie is going to stay with the Martins and go to Pine Valley High School (what a surprise). So, it's shaping up into a Robin-Charlie-Julie triangle, it seems. Last shot: Jeremy & Erica's boat's radio and outboard motor both break down. (*sigh* I knew this plot was moving too fast to be true!) They are floating around the islands. Assorted notes: 1. OK, OK, I got enough impassioned e-mail messages to convince me to keep posting!! Also enough positive strokes, too! :-) 2. Detective Young *does* have a first name - Dave! 3. Is AMC the only soap with 2 characters on it with the same first name? I mean Bobby Warner, Cliff's kid, and Bob Georgia, Hilary's husband, also called Bobby rather frequently. 4. Re another posting, Pine Valley must be in Pennsylvania, since PVHS's football rival is Llanview (the town in OLTL) and OLTL often says Llanview is in Penn. I once heard an AMC actor say that Center City is a PV nickname for Philadelphia. 5. Amazing but true dept.: Laurence Lau's (Greg Nelson) family lives just down the freeway from Portland in Lake Oswego, and in Lake Oswego there is a Pine Valley Road! I kid you not! As Enid is talking to Greg, she uses the same arguments as he did with Robin. And his answers are pretty much the ones Robin used on him. He starts answering and then hestitates like he hears whats going on. He then goes to tell Robin she can have her job back no strings attached. (He was threatening to fire her if she didn't go back to school, reduce her hours if she did). Marguerite
