Does anyone know where Pine Valley is supposed to be? I always thought it was in New York but since Andrew took Sandy to New York and crossed state lines, it mustn't be. I've heard of a (real) Pine Valley, NJ but I can't imagine the writers naming their town after a real one. Marguerite ...!ihnp4!iwpbd!maggie2

Pine Valley and Llanview (OLTL) are both suburbs of Philadelphia. (Both are in PA.) Occasionally a character from one will appear in the other. One example: Paul Martin was a lawyer for someone in OLTL. (Marco's murter trial, maybe?) Anyone figure out where Port Charles, NY is?

It is not true that Pine Valley is a suburb of Philadelphia. Last week a radio station in Chicago was playing AMC trivia for prizes. This question raised a lot of controversy because everyone was sure that PV was in New York. The game said it is a mythical town and is not supposed to be in any state. The DJ called the script consultant for AMC. She has been with the show since it first started and is in charge of script integrity, making sure that the story lines have never conflicted. She said that Pine Valley is mythical and the scripts have never intimated otherwise. It seems to me, though, that Erica did a lot of commuting to New York when she was modeling and married to Tom Cudahy.

I think Pine Valley is in Pennsylvania. One time on the show
a few months ago one character was giving another a phone number
in Pine Valley that included area code 215. 215 is the area
code for the Philadelphia area of Pennsylvania. Note also that
"Center City" is probably Philadelphia and "Sea City" is Atlantic City.

While it is true that Pine Valley is a mythical location, it is quite clear from various things over the years that it is located in eastern PA. The intertwining of AMC and OLTL provides most of this evidence. As for why it's a suburb of Philly, it's about 2 hours from NY on the other side from CT. (I suppose the Lehigh Valley is possible, but that could be considered a suburb of Philly.)

From what I have seen on AMC it seems that Pine Valley is somewhere in PA. I base this on references to travel to and from NYC and one other convincing piece of evidence. About a month or two ago they showed the front of Pheobe's house. The Roll's parked in the driveway had a Pennsylvania license plate! That is convincing enough for me.

Ruth Warick who plays Phoebe Tyler-Wallingford on AMC wrote a book a few years back entitled "The Confessions of Phoebe Tyler". Here is what she had to say on the topic: "It is the suburb of Center City which somewhat resembles Philadelphia and it is about 90 miles from New York City... In fact, Pine Valley occupies roughly the same map position as Bryn Mawr, the affluent Philadelphia mainline community which is the home of a famous instition of learning.
