Well, I am shocked - when in the past I have asked survey questions, I have to wait a few weeks to get any answers at all. My question about whether mail replies should go to only the originator or to the originator and all recipients brought 25 quick responses. 17 thought the replies should go only to the originator, 4 thought that the replies should go to the originator and all recipients, and the other 4 - well, I guess you should always expect a few crank answers. Actually the other 4 weren't crank, just inappropriate: they were esentially pointers to the ucb/mail R command. Now I knew about that command. But I thought I made it clear that I wasn;t look for command, but philisophical, design-side information - oh well, maybe some people just can't read. Thanks to all who replied, and for the local Wang Institute folks - I have just switched the "r" and "R" commands. I had better not get any flames about who people can't reply to everyone!!
