[net.misc] Byte article about C

I was *most* amused. They state that:
-------------------------------------------
"... C fills a niche between such high level languages as BASIC, COBOL, and
Pascal and low-level assembly languages tied to particular processors.
Perhaps most aptly described as a 'medium-level' programming language..."
-------------------------------------------
Basic and Cobol, high level languages?? Well, maybe, sort of. (Naaaahhhh!)
C is a medium-level language?? Below Basic and Cobol (of all things!!)?!?
Interesting comparisons. They were slightly 'iffy' on a few other things
also, although those were the worst. They mention that Unix(*) and its
utilities comprise over 300,000 lines of C source code, but neglect to
mention that the Operating System itself, is less than 10,000 lines total
(at least up to the present). Oh well, what can you expect out of a
computer magazine, anyway? :-)
