[net.misc] gender differentiation of life spans: a new word

andrew@orca.UUCP (Andrew Klossner) (08/17/83)

A study was recently completed which offers strong evidence that the
reason the average lifespan of women is longer than that of men is
because many more men than women have long histories of tobacco abuse.
It seems that when you correct for this factor you find that
differences between the average lifespans become insignificant.
[Sorry, I can't offer references, I heard this on the radio while
driving.]

I imagine the Tobacco Institute will offer their usual sense-free
rebuttal.
