Pallas <uw-beaver!PALLAS@SU-SCORE.ARPA> Subject: MacPaint and Imagewriter To: info-mac@SUMEX-AIM.ARPA For the second time someone is claiming that MacPaint deletes every tenth scan line when printing on the Imagewriter. I think I know how this notion got started, and I'd like to lay it to rest. The original message making this claim suggested one print the active window from MacPaint, and examine the horizontal lines at the top. Sure enough, when I did this, two of the lines were scrunched together. Then I filled the window with horizontal lines, and repeated the experiment. Lo and behold, none of the lines were scrunched together, EXCEPT for the title bar. Careful fiddling with the printer revealed the truth: the problem lies in the paper feed mechanism, which (with pin-feed paper, at least) does not always advance precisely [especially if the last page was torn off, pulling on the paper]. Let's put an end to the circulation of this mythinformation. joe -------
