[net.music.classical] query -- 1950s avant garde compositions

parker@psuvax.UUCP (Bruce Parker) (05/01/84)

Several years ago on WNYC-FM (in NYC, of course) I heard two works
which satirized the musical avant-garde of the 1950s. I can't remember
much about the works now, except that the first was entitled "Flute
Loops" and was a very messy piece using a flute on a tape loop.
The second was a lampoon of Beat poetry complete with someone in
the background yelling "Dig it, baby, dig it!"

My questions:
(1) Who is the composer?
(2) Is there a commercially available recording?
