I am an AI/Computer Science person, with a developing interest in computer aided music. I am interested in learning about the structure of musical compositions. Phrasing, rules/tricks for improvisation, rules for harmonization, orchestration etc etc. The works. I know next to nothing now, and would like a pointer to an introductory text that would get me started. I can be reached at {ihnp4,allegra,ucbvax}!eagle!prem or at (201) 522 6324 (work) (201) 769 0988 (home)

I haven't found anything comparable to it in terms of harmonization. One could use a good appreciation text for the very basics (notation and form). Check out what the local college is using as texts for its intro musik- for-non-musik-majors courses (appreciation and theory). --Nick Cuccia --cuccia%ucbmiro@Berkeley (Arpanet) --ucbvax!cuccia (USENET)
