[net.music.classical] obscure 4-hand piano music

Hey, I'm not proud - here I am, Baroque or not. (Aw, it was only a joke...)

Apparently it was quite the thing at one time to make duet transcriptions
of all the latest orchestral works. The UC Berkeley music library has
piano duet transcriptions of mahler's 6th and 4th symphonies - does any
one know if these are in print anywhere? (call me nothing if not an
optimist.) Also, I have seen, and heard performed, a two piano version
of le Sacre du printemps. magnificent! I don't imagine it's too easy,
though.

Another good one is the Brahms F minor piano quintet - in that case the
"transcription" (which may have existed first) is by the composer. Un-
fortunately this is two-piano also.

				just another classical creep,
                                      Jeff Winslow
