[net.music.classical] Cox and Box

I watched the PBS production of Cox and Box last night and noticed that
it was considerably longer than either my recording or my score (Belwin
Mills reissue of a Chappell score, I think). There was a lot more
dialogue, more verses of the songs, and even an additional song. Does
anyone know whether they padded it out for this production or if they
used an original version which D'Oyly Carte usually cuts?

Both, I think. They admitted to adding extra scenes - the ones
outside the boarding house, which were, I think all without
dialog. On the other hand, I can't see them spending all that
money and then using a cut script. Besides, haven't I heard there
was no love lost between <that> theater group and the British
Establishment (which would have funded, if not produced) the
TV version? hound!rfg
