[net.misc] Freezing hot water

jeb@eisx.UUCP (Jim Beckman) (08/19/83)

I just read the posting from Carl Blesch, "the armchair chemist" explaining
why hot water will freeze faster than cold water. I have never seen such
an amazing pile of meadow muffins. And the frightening thing is that
this guy works at BELL LABS!! I hope he confines his chemistry work
to his armchair, because he couldn't be doing BTL much good in the
field. Thermodynamics, either. In fact, I wouldn't even trust him
as a mechanical engineer. Hacker, maybe. After all, our connection
to the world of reality is tenuous at best.

The only rational explanation is that Carl's submission was a joke.
If so, I apologize.
