[net.music.classical] Classics and Commercials

dps@omsvax.UUCP (Dave Schneider) (05/15/84)

Here in Portland (Oregon, that is...we're the place that made
Portland, Maine famous) we have a commercial radio station
for the classical music buff (KKSN, whose previous incarnation
was rock, with a heavy teen orientation). This is an AM station
using one of the new AM-stereo encoding techniques.

I would like to get information from other areas of the country
about commercial radio playing classics. Please try to answer
the following questions in your reply (I'll summarize to the net):

Area:
Number of classical stations:
Number of commerical classical stations:
% prgramming is classical:
AM? FM? Stereo?

Comments can include the type of classical music the station tends
to concentrate on, if any, whether the commercials interrupt programming,
what subscription programs the station carries.

Thanks.
