Sorry for posting this to the net, but my reply to a net mail
message from Chris Isbell regarding a note response posted by me
never got to him via uumail. I owe Chris his reply, so here it is:

	Dear Chris,

The fingering method(s) I described are keyboard fingering
methods, not recorder fingering method(s). My 'note' was a reply to
a 'base note' that argued against using iconographic evidence as a
clue to (early) performance practice. Specifically, the 'base note'
argued that there is a great deal of iconographic evidence for
using one kind of recorder embouchure (sp ?), but that the author
thought that the evidence was not to be taken seriously.
My reply was basically a defence of using iconographic
evidence as a guide to early performance practice. I used the
the case of early keyboard fingering as an example in my argument.
If you are at all interested in early keyboard fingering
techniques, drop me a line ( via the net !), and I'd be happy to
supply you with a bibliography.

	Thanks for your letter,

	Ben Krepp
