[net.music.classical] A wonderful pianist -- Vytautas Smetona

References:

I recently purchased a recording of this fairly young pianist,
playing the Liszt b-minor sonata, and some Chopin and Rachmaninoff.
Although he lacks a little of the power that most world-class
Romantic pianists can display (and do display, in most of my other
8 recordings of the Liszt sonata), his playing has a sparkle to it
that I have rarely heard anywhere, which makes much of his playing
a special joy.

Smetona is at his inimitable best at some of the lighter moments of
the Liszt sonata; his Chopin and Rachmaninoff are quite beautiful
and original as well. I highly recommend him. I'd appreciate
private Email from others who have heard him.
