[net.music.classical] classical music and "weeding out"

This cuts both ways.  I'm sure I'm glad that a lot of the crap was weeded
out of classical anywhere from decades to hundreds of years ago, yet I'm
not convinced that they weeded out the right stuff.  The price of
contemporary music is that you hear more crap; the benefit is that you have
some say in what doesn't make it.
