There have been some recent postings about classical music being dead. That may be true, but..... The Hollywood Bowl used to have programs on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The Tuesday/Thursday programs were "heavier" or more serious, and the Saturday program was a little more familiar or lighter. They would perform the Saturday program on Friday only for the more popular nights (Tschiakowsky spectacular, Beethoven spectacular, closing night w/fireworks). This was back in the 60's. Now they have the same program Friday and Saturday every week, and the Bowl is jammed both nights. Perhaps it is the open air, the ambience, the sound of wine bottles rolling down the concrete steps..... Or perhaps classical music is not dead. Maurice {decvax, sdcrdcf, hplabs, ucbvax}!trwrb!suhre
