[net.music.classical] Warhorse Poll -- charge!

poppers@aecom.UUCP (Michael Poppers) (10/10/84)

Ok, fellow musical knights, art thou ready to joust? Here are some
slections that Wild Bill didn't mention (including some that he *should*
have included), numbered by alpha order (I'll let you decide on the proper
order -- frankly, I can't, by and large, think of a fair order myself!):

	1) BEETHOVEN: (The "Ode to Joy" from) Symphony #9
	2) BRAHMS: Academic Festival overture ... Gaudeamus igitur!
	3) DEBUSSY: "Claire de Lune" (did I get the speeling right?) ... my
mother (fondly) recalls "The Frenchman's Cove," with Joan Fontaine and Arturo
de Cordoba)
	4) DUKAS: Sorcerer's Apprentice ... remember "Fantasia"? No, you
probably don't!
	5) GRIEG: Piano Concerto ... pick any movement, they're all burned
into my head
	6) MOZART: Eine Kleine Nacht Musik
	7) RAVEL: Bolero ... come on, WJL, don't you realize what Bo did to
America?
	8) SAINT-SAENS: Dance Macabre
	9) J.P. SOUSA: Stars and Stripes Forever ... and ever, Amen.

Last, but certainly not least, even rock fans know
	10) VERDI: "La donna e mobile"

From the classical confines of Yeshiva University, I remain...
