[net.music.classical] Time Periods for Various Music Forms: A Question

lute@abnjh.UUCP (J. Collymore) (11/16/84)

I was curious if anyone out there could tell me what the range of years would
be for certain types of music. For example:

Medieval = pre-1450

Renaissance = 1450-1600

Baroque = 1600-1750

I would like to know the chronological order, and years of the following
periods:

Classical
Romantic
Neo-Classical
Neo-Romantic

And any other periods in between.

Please send me mail.  Thanks.

<there are no time periods after classical worth mentioning - but ...>

The romantic period begins with the downbeat of Carl Maria von Weber's
Overture to Der Freischuetz.
