[net.music.classical] What do you want to talk about...

For those of you who live reasonably close to New York, and who are opera fans,
the New York City Opera is going to use their super-title system again in their
85-86 season. If you haven't seen it, it is great - an English translation of
the singing is projected on a screen at the top of the proscenium arch - no
more fumbling through librettos in the dark or listening to operas being
butchered by being sung in English that were written in some other language.
It adds to the enjoyment of the opera. Frankly, I've been going to the
City Opera more than the Met, since Met tickets have become so outrageous.
You can get excellent City Opera seats for $20-25 and the top seats are $35.
Unfortunately, $35 seats at the Met get you the chance to strain to hear the
singers and make "opera glasses" a necessity.
