NOTE: I am not scolding anyone, just generous enough to part with whatever
little knowledge I may have acquired during my industrious youth. Also,
I am French.

1- "Ah vous dirai-je Maman" is not variations on the "Twinkle, twinkle
little star" theme. Rather, "Twinkle, etc" is a song consisting of new
words on the tune of "Ah vous dirai-je Maman".

2- The variations themselves were written by Mozart on the theme of an
18-th century French song.

3- The vocal piece that one net reader heard recently on the same theme is
not by Mozart himself; it is a set of variations on Mozart's variations,
written by the 19th century French composer Charles Adam.
I agree it is very nice, although seldom heard.

4- Although there has been some sex change I am not aware of, "Florence
Schmidt" should really be "Florent Schmitt".
