I submitted this a long time ago (June?) but never got any responses. Until now. All of a sudden people are asking for the answers. I'll post this again for people who didn't see it before, and this time I promise to post answers in about a week. Here is a trivia quiz about composers dying in strange ways. 1. What composer was killed when the bicycle he was riding slammed into a tree? 2. What composer, while living in an occupied country, was shot to death by a sentry of the occupying forces as he stepped outside one evening to smoke a cigarette? Of what nationality was the sentry? 3. What composer was murdered by an intruder and left to die in his garden? 4. What composer succumbed to angina? 5. What composer died when he got blood poisening from an infected pimple on his upper lip? 6. What composer was crushed to death by a bookcase? Bruce Kinmonth ...decvax!decwrl!rhea!null!kinmonth

I recently saw a humorous quiz about the health and death of certain composers on this net. It reminded me to recommend to other netters the introductory article written by Nicholas Slonimsky in the latest issue of Baker's Biographical Dictionary of Composers. In my opinion, this essay (about 40 pages) rates as one of the most hilarious things ever written. Look it up in a library.
