[net.music.classical] tearjerkers

My candidates for most gut-wrenching, or whatever:

1) 2nd mvt. from the Concierto de Aranjuez by Juaquin Rodrigo. Starts off
with a duet of guitar and english horn. Has been adapted to other
forms, including a jazz version by Miles Davis (Sketches of Spain)
and, if I recall correctly, an electronic rendition by Tomita.

2) Adagio from the Concerto in D minor for 2 violins by Bach. The Master
shows here that he can wrench guts with the best of them (yuck).

These pieces were "our song" for two long-ago romances, and that
lends a certain impact to them for me.

Not bad, but it can't hold a candle to ``La Maja y el Ruisen~or'' from
Granados's ``Goyescas''.
