A few years ago, I bought the old Solti recording of Das Rheingold. One of the things I liked about it was the thematic catalog at the front of the libretto booklet and the references to the leitmotif's next to the text in the libretto. Now, London has come out with the whole Ring on CD, and I'm sorely tempted to sell my car and buy it. One question prevents me: what kind of booklet do they give you with opera CD's? If there's a little baby 3-inch square sheet of music, with eentsy-weentsy text that requires a magnifying glass, then I'm not sure I'm interested - I haven't memorized the Ring yet. If that's the lamentable case, then can anyone direct me to an adult-sized libretto, complete with leitmotif's, that is not attached to either an LP recording or a full score? A little joke (and not a new one, either): What is the question to which the answer is "9W"? Answer: "Do you spell your name with a V, Herr Wagner?" (Sorry)
