[net.mag] 'American Scene' article in Aug. 27 TIME magazine

[This notice probably belongs in net.women, but we don't get it, so...]

I just wanted to call people's attention to the article 'In Las Vegas:
Working Hard for the Money' by Jane O'Reilly which appeared in the Aug.
27 TIME. O'Reilly covers the indelicate subject of ladies' room
attendants and their clients in the casinos of Las Vegas, and her
article has to be the funniest, most human article I've ever seen in
TIME magazine. This issue of TIME magazine hit the stands 5 days late
here in Utah, and I wonder if it was because of this article... It has
some pretty crude things to say (do you know the definition of a
'bimbo-in-training'? *) but it softens them with very sympathetic
observation. I've never entered a ladies' restroom, but now I feel
like I've BEEN there (ouch!). Find it if you can.

* Oh, all right: '[A] bimbo-in-training [is] a young woman who has
not yet imagined all the places blusher can be applied.'
