[net.net-people] The Fall and Rise of Moriarty

moriarty@uw-june (Jeff Meyer) (06/06/84)

Yes, it had to happen sometime. Even I, a stalwart of the net, a purveyer
of random and often trivial postings throughout this wonderful implosion
known affectionately as "the net" (or "the worst plague on man since the
locusts 'did lunch' in Egypt" in other circles), have had to.... graduate.

Gulp.

Yes, I know what you're thinking. How could it happen? How could this legend
in his own mind, this temple to net-use, this boon to the AT&T Long Lines
Company, graduate? Hell, how could I find the time to do any work while I
was posting all those notes?

Well, that's MY little secret.

Anyway, my academic status a terminal state, I pack up my files on magnetic
tape, bow my head in a rush of emotion, and get the heck out of this state
for a long-deserved vacation! And will I ever be seen again? Will anyone in
their right mind ever grant me access to the net?

Well, yes!

Later this June (probably around the 25th), I will be starting my job with
the John Fluke Co., and will be on the net there. The account should be
"fluke!moriarty", though I'm not sure yet -- I'll let people know on
net.net-people as soon as I find out. Until then, though, my accounts here
will be active, even though there will be no one to read mail from them. So
feel free to send any notes to me here while I'm gone... I'll respond to 'em
when I get back.

And, thanks, folks. It's been a hell of a lot of fun, and I've had the
opportunity to correspond with a lot of interesting, intelligent people.
Looking forward to returning later this month. Take care.
