I have a friend who would like to communicate with his father in Israel and we would like to know if there is any working mail path (uucp, Arpa, Bitnet, etc.) to the Weizmann Institute. Thanks in advance... -- Stuart Freedman decvax!cwruecmp!ncoast!stuart Case Western Reserve University

I'm told that the Weizmann Institute is on BITNET. The machine is called simply 'WEIZMANN'. How to get to BITNET is left as an exercise to the reader. Louis A. Mamakos Computer Science Center - Systems Programming Univ. of Maryland.

[] Weizmann Institute is on BITNET. If you can get to a bitnet site, Weizmann has a bboard (thru cunyvm) that can help you out. Mail me, I can give you more info about it. (I don't have it handy.) Don Preuss -- Uucp: ...!harpo!seismo!umcp-cs!preuss CsNet: preuss.umcp-cs@csnet-relay 301-496-2265

I believe that you can get to BITNET through us by using the path ...!watmath!watdcsu!weizmann!user_name Unfortunately, it is a feature of BITNET that you must know the login (userid to us VM/SP types) of the person you are sending to. Also, there is not, at this time, a way to use something like the net to get to a machine without knowing the login. Incidentally, I have never tried this from any machine other than watdcsu, so I cannot guarantee that anything will actually arrive. I might also mention that watdcsu is on NetNorth, the Canadian extension to BITNET. I forgot to say that you cannot receive replies from Weizmann through BITNET because there does not exist a proper gateway for the two networks that I know about. This happens to work because of the way that watdcsu is both a BITNET and a USENET node. I cannot be sure of this from any machine other than watdcsu, but it is worth a try. Herb...
