It is with great sadness that I report on the death of Dr. James Gough. Jimmy died peacefully at his home yesterday, January 27th after a long illness. There will be a memorial service on Friday, February 1 at 3pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Atlanta (located at the corner of Peachtree and 16th Street). Dr. Gough was a full professor in the School of ICS here at Georgia Tech, with his most recent work being in the area of cognitive science, in studies on the foundations of language and grammaticality. He also served as the graduate student advisor for many, many years. His presence as an instructor, colleague, and friend will be greatly missed. The family has requested that anyone wishing to offer a rememberance of Jimmy not do so with flowers, but rather make a donation in his name to the Southeastern Cancer Research Foundation at 25 Prescott Street NE, Suite 6401, Atlanta GA 30308. Donations can also be made to the Foundation through the School of ICS; mail such items c/o Ms. Debra Woods, School of ICS, Georgia Tech, Atlanta GA 30332. -- Gene "6 months and counting" Spafford The Clouds Project, School of ICS, Georgia Tech, Atlanta GA 30332 CSNet: Spaf @ GATech ARPA: Spaf%GATech.CSNet @ CSNet-Relay.ARPA uucp: ...!{akgua,allegra,hplabs,ihnp4,linus,seismo,ulysses}!gatech!spaf
