Jim Collymore (abnjh!lute Tue Oct 11 16:51:59 1983) submitted: "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired from vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." from "Innocents Abroad" by Mark Twain I would just like to point out that communications has been viewed as a metaphor for transportation. The "Communications Revolution" that is upon us can be expected to have some of the same benefits as those Mark Twain attributes to travel. That is as long as the gays read more than just net.motss, and the women read more than just net.women, and the trekkies read more than just net.startrek, etc. USENET provides an opportunity to become exposed to wide variety of views and opinions. How many people ONLY read their own special interest groups? (If you're reading net.misc you probably don't fall into this category.) Robert DeBenedictis
