Whether they actually use this jargon in everyday speech probably depends on the person. But, if you really think about it, there are a lot of things in the everyday world that can't be expressed very well in the english language, and I imagine that many of these things could be described in an algorithmic manner; what field provides a better jargon for doing so? A few examples (there are many): When you are preparing for a party and send one person out for the beer while another one calls the girls while another one stashes the breakables while you tidy up a bit, what word describes the manner in which all of you are acting, and also intimates the savings in time? When you perform a task over and over again, say frying hamburgers at Burger King, what word best describes a repetitious task? And, since the customer always gets it THEIR way, how could you refer to the options of pickles, lettuce, onions, ketchup, etc? When you do something automatically, without thinking about it (say, signing on to your computer), what word would you use to refer to this action? I would be interested in hearing other people's thoughts on this subject, as well as whatever clever and witty uses of such jargon as others may provide. If the word fits... craig somewhere in the university of illinois at champaign-urbana
