I would like to thank everyone who responded to my query on how to get to BITNET. Several people mentioned "private" gateways via their own machines (which I interpret to mean: don't publish them, so I won't). From USENET, many people said that "psuvax1!host.bitnet!user" would work, but several others reported that they had had messages bounced trying to go this way. From the ARPAnet, "person%host.BITNET@WISCVM" supposedly works. What ACTUALLY worked for us was using our CSNET connection (we are not on ARPA except via CSNET). The CSNET address "person%host.BITNET@WISCVM.ARPA" definitely DOES work for us Thanks again for the replies. --Greg -- {ucbvax!hplabs | allegra!nbires | decvax!noao | harpo!seismo | ihnp4!noao} !hao!woods CSNET: woods@NCAR ARPA: woods%ncar@CSNET-RELAY "I don't know, but I've been told, it's hard to run with the weight of gold On the other hand I've heard it said, it's just as hard with the weight of lead"
